The month of September brings warm sunny days and cool comfortable nights. It also begins the transition to all of the things we love about fall including crisp, colorful leaves, vibrant orange pumpkins and the sweet aroma of homemade apple pie. The Rochester Hills Arts and Apples Festival located in Rochester, Michigan is arguably one of the best ways to kick off the start of fall season with an amazing 3-day celebration of art, food and culture.

Scheduled for September 7th through the 9th, 2018, the Rochester Arts and Apples Festival was named one of the top 10 fine art festivals in the U.S. for 2018 and has been consistently ranked among the top art festivals in the country by Sunshine Magazine. With over 300 of the best artisans from across the country showcasing their handcrafted items attendance is expected to reach 200,000 this year.

Presented by the Paint Creek Center for the Arts, the Apples and Arts Festival is held in the picturesque 30-acre Rochester Park. Festival goers will be awed by the beautiful hand woven baskets, glistening glass sculptures in vibrant colors and stunning jewelry meticulously hand-crafted in a wide variety of metals. There will be fanciful birdhouses for your favorite feathered friends and distinctive leather handbags in a variety of colors for the lady in your life. Whether you are looking for the prefect watercolor or black and white photograph to grace your living room wall or a whimsical gift for that special friend you are sure to fall in love with the work of these top-notch artisans.


But, we can’t forget that this is the Arts and Apples festival. Apples will be front and center including some of the best apple pie you’ve ever tasted! Of course there will be more than just pie. Chefs will be celebrating this delicious autumn delicacy in variety of ways ranging from strudel to fritters to crepes and much more. And don’t worry, for those of you looking for more savory fare there will be scrumptious slow roasted BBQ, wood fired pizzas, Italian sausages, Greek gyros, and wok fired soba noodles. Vendors will also have kid friendly fare for those that are less adventurous.


The 2018 Rochester Hills Art and Apples Festival promises to be one of the best events of the fall season. The festival runs from 4-7 pm on Friday night, from 9 am to 7:30 pm on Saturday and from 9 am to 4 pm on Sunday. There is something for everyone so be sure to bring the entire family and make a day of it. The festival event stage will showcase amazing local and national talent throughout the day including Irish Dance, Latin Jazz and the Swing Shift Orchestra to name just a few.
