If you have plans to be in the Lexington, Kentucky area in mid August, be sure to schedule a visit to the Woodland Art Fair. This year the event is being held Saturday, August 18, and Sunday, August 19. It begins at 10:00 a.m. each day and closes at 6 p.m. on Saturday and at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free to all.This will be the 41st annual celebration of this Lexington art fair and will feature 200 artists and crafts persons exhibiting and selling their creations in such genres as jewelry, photography, mixed media, painting, metalwork, etc. What would a fair be without food, and this year promises on-site food and beverage vendors.
The gazebo stage will present live music and various types of special entertainment. Also scheduled will be a community art project plus hands-on activities geared to children and adults as well. The entire event is sponsored by WesBanco. The Lexington Parks and Recreation and Lexington Art League will co-produce this wonderful experience.
Woodland Art Fair Parking and Transportation
For the convenience of its patrons, the Woodland Art Fair 2018 will offer shuttles that will circulate 10 minutes apart. To take advantage of this service, park at:- Lextran Transit Center (use High Street entrance near Lexington Ave. and MLK Blvd.)

- Lexington Herald-Leader front parking lot

Woodland Park
Woodland Park is located at 601 East High Street. It is situated in an exciting neighborhood just south of downtown Lexington. Originally owned by the son-in-law of the great statesman Henry Clay, in 1865 it became the Agricultural College as part of Kentucky University. Now it includes a recreational area with a baseball field; swimming pool; tennis, basketball and handball courts. Woodland Park also hosts SummerFest and Ballet Under the Stars.
About Lexington Kentucky
Lexington is the second largest city in the state and is known as the Horse Capital of the World. Beneath the top layer of soil is a limestone deposit that contributes to the pastureland that feeds the horse farms. There are a number of creeks in the area and it is known for its scenic views.
Just east of the downtown area you will find Ashland, a two-story historic home from the Henry Clay Estate. The University of Kentucky Art Museum houses over 4,000 pieces from Old Masters to contemporary art work. Additional points of interest include:
